21 - 23 March 2018

This year’s Spring Conference – IP in a global economy – welcomes CITMA’s most international line-up of speakers ever. With talks on counterfeiting around the globe, to debate about IP internationally, CITMA plan to set the world to rights.

As countries around the world face increasing challenges to enforce IP on the international stage, CITMA is proud to bring together some of the biggest names in the international trade mark community to discuss the issues.

This year’s headlining event sees three industry heavyweights – Grant Lynds (IPIC President), Richard Baddeley (IPTA President) and Shunji Sato (chair of the International Committee of JTA) – talk counterfeiting in their respective jurisdictions. Expect lively debate as they discuss precluding and deterring such activity.

You will also hear from Samantha Foulkes, Richemont International. She’ll give us an overview of the One Belt, One Road Initiative in China, including the anti-counterfeiting issues it raises for Richemont. Plus, you will learn about the anti-counterfeiting enforcement challenges Richemont brands face in Asia beyond.

UKIPO’s criminal division will bring a UK perspective to this year’s conference, enlightening us about high-profile news and seizures of branded counterfeits, and how they collaborate with the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU).

And our first intensive seminar? This will take place at Bird & Bird LLP and focus on IP contracts, including how they are drafted, an introduction to contract law, as well as advice on clauses in more complex agreements. It comes at an extra cost but Spring Conference delegates receive a discount on the ticket price so take a look at the programme and consider attending.

Between talks, enjoy relaxed conversations, consolidate old relationships and develop new ones, and expand your network of colleagues and clients. Meet international and UK-based trade mark attorneys, IP barristers, judges, investigators, searchers, exhibitors, and support services.

Last year’s conference welcomed delegates from 36 countries, spanning six continents. This year – with our conference and Gala Dinner taking place on the fourth floor of County Hall, boasting views along the River Thames to the London Eye and Palace of Westminster – we expect another great turnout.

With a full delegate ticket, you get:

  • entry to every session
  • documentation from the conference
  • a USB stick with speaker presentations
  • welcome drinks reception on 21st March
  • conference lunch on 22nd and optional lunch on 23rd March
